Easter holiday fun!

We have lots going on this Easter holidays, with free chocolate for every child and a visit from the Easter bunny over the Easter weekend!  There will be something different happening everyday throughout the holiday as well as the usual daily activities such as guided tours of BeeWorld, talks, critter encounters, candle rolling, honey tasting and much more! For the first time we are doing beekeeping demos – allowing visitors to get even closer to the bees so everyone can see and experience beekeeping first hand. There’s nothing quite like the sound and smell of a beehive! Plus the kids can burn off some steam in the indoor and outdoor play areas while you enjoy a Devonshire cream tea with honey in the café. There will be special offers on in the shop where you can taste and purchase some delicious honeys. Make a Bee-Line for Quince Honey Farm this Easter!            ...

Paddy Wallace awarded a Master of Excellence in bee farming

Owner and beekeeper as Quince Honey Farm has been recognised as a Master of Excellence in bee farming. Paddy Wallace was presented his certificate by the Lord Mayor of London Alderman, The Lord Mountevans at a glittering ceremony at Fishmongers’ hall on London Bridge on Monday, Febuary 15. Upon receiving his award Paddy said: ‘It is such a great honour and it has been a very humbling experience’. He was born in 1953 and has been beekeeping in some form since he was old enough to make beehive frames and extract honey on his father’s honey farm. Paddy joined forces with his father and together they created the largest bee farm in the country. He spent his winter months designing and building the world’s first mechanically operated opening hives. Quince Honey Farm became a tourist attraction offering people the opportunity to see honey processing first hand and to actually see inside beehives. Paddy’s contribution to beekeeping has also been recognised by the Livery Companies Skills Council which has helped the Bee Farmers Association set up its world class apprenticeship scheme. The Court of the Worshipful Company of Wax Chandlers, one of the sponsors of the apprenticeship scheme, voted unanimously that Paddy Wallace should be awarded a Masters certificate.   Paddy Wallace photographed here with the Lord Mayor of London Alderman, The Lord...
